With the cooperation of Casa Árabe, the Autonomous Region of Madrid has organized this theatrical performance in Madrid on December 2. It will be broadcast live through our social media channels.

“El Silencio de las Murciélagas” (“The Silence of the Lady Bats”) came about after an encounter between young French author Anaïs Allais and Bissane, a young Syrian artist from Damascus who fled from the repression of the Arab Spring in her country. After meeting Bissane, Anaïs wrote this story of two worlds coming together, both here and there, a meeting between East and West. Maya is a young European living a precarious situation after just ending a love story. Nur is a young woman who recently left her country, fleeing from war. Both are pregnant and end up living together in a small flat located inside a large European city. The communication between Nur and Maya is difficult, if not impossible. How are they to understand each other when the story is so great it devours its main characters? These two women share one thing in common, though: they belong to the same generation.

The performance will be held on December 2, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. inside Casa Árabe’s Madrid Auditorium. To attend, you must sign up in advance using this form. You can also watch it live on our YouTube and Facebook Live channels. The number who may attend is greatly reduced and mask use is required throughout the entire event. The decision to hold this activity in person will depend upon the health situation at the time. Thank you for your understanding.
