This summer, the online film screenings are continuing at Casa Árabe

While we await the return to full normality at the cinema space inside our Madrid headquarters, Casa Árabe will continue its online film screenings with the cooperation of Filmin. In June and July, we will be showing three movies not yet screened by Casa Árabe up to now. 

In order to watch each film, you have to request a code using the form located in the information section on each title in our website. The first 120 people to request a free code will be given one to watch the movie on the Filmin platform, valid for ten days as of the date indicated for each of them. Request your code as soon as possible, because they are limited in number.

    As of Friday, June 26, you can watch this award-winning documentary, directed by Abbas Fahdel, on Filmin. We will start sending out access codes one week in advance.

    Plot summary: Iraqi director Abbas Fahdel uses his camera to film his family for 17 months in a documentary divided into two parts (before and after the attack), showing us their everyday life interrupted by the horror of the  Iraq War. The documentary tells the story of several inhabitants of Baghdad before and after the American occupation. The first part, titled Before the Fall, ends when the American army enters the city of Baghdad. In the second part, After the Battle the American army invades Iraq, and  we are shown the consequences in the everyday lives of the film’s characters.

    Plot summary: Sama illegally immigrates to France after the revolution in Tunisia. Obsessed with the idea that her brother, an Islamic extremist, might be spying on her, she finds refuge at the home of Imed, an acquaintance from her home village, and in Leila, a mysterious woman who offers her a job as a maid.

    Plot summary: In Algiers, a few years after the civil war, Amal and Samir are about to celebrate their twentieth wedding anniversary at a restaurant. On the way there, they both look back at their country’s past: Amal sees hopes and dreams lost, whereas Samir sees it as a country where they can live in comfort. Meanwhile, Fahim, their son, walks aimlessly through Algiers along with his friends Feriel and Reda, as the city closes in on itself.
