"Tiempo diplomático" book launch [Diplomatic Time]

On September 19th, Madrid will host the launching of a new book by Manuel Montobbio, diplomat and Ph.D. in Political Sciences.
The event will take place at Casa Árabe’s Auditorium (c/Alcalá, 62) at 19.30. The author will take part in, as well as Rafael Mendívil, Undersecretary from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; Darío Valcárcel, director of Política Exterior; Cristina Manzano, director of Foreign Policy Spanish Edition and Eduardo López Busquets, Director General of Casa Árabe.
As if it were a trip, Tiempo Diplomático [Diplomatic Time] will invite us to live a diplomatic assignment in its different stages, and it offers a close look to the diplomat’s functions and to the diplomats all along their professional career. It is an essay and a story, which through reflection and sharing own experiences attempts to answer all those questions regarding what diplomacy is, what is and what does a diplomat, which is nowadays its added value and the essence and sense of their task. And at the same time it goes beyond, it depicts in depth the process and the sense of knowledge of the other, of the connections to his country, his culture and his world.
Manuel Montobbio
He is a diplomat who holds a Ph.D. in Political Science with a wide multidisciplinary education and training. Mr. Montobbio has developed a double career both as a diplomat and as an academic and a writer. Due to the first, he held different posts for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in assignments in San Salvador, Jakarta, Mexico and Guatemala, and he was the first Spanish Ambassador to Albania. The second, has made him publish several books, among them, published by Icaria, Guía poética de Albania (2011) [Albania’s poetry guide], Salir del Callejón del Gato. La deconstrucción de Oriente y Occidente y la gobernanza global (2008) [The deconstruction of East and West and global governance] and La metamorfosis del Pulgarcito. Transición política y proceso de paz en El Salvador (1999) [Political transition and peace process in Salvador].
The book launch has been organized by Casa Arabe and Icaria Publishing Company in collaboration with the CEI, Foreign Policy, Política Exterior, and Ortega-Marañón Foundation.
