Casa Árabe is presenting this exhibition, organized with the cooperation
of Urban Sketchers Córdoba, at its Andalusian headquarters. It can be
seen until September 17.
On this special occasion, the group Urban Sketchers Córdoba (USC), made up of 27 artists, recently met at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Cordoba to complete two days of work in which they used their brushes to decorate many of the corners inside this historical building, which serves as the main office for Casa Árabe. A selection of these works and others that include Cordoba’s historical heritage form part of this exhibition.
It consists of creative work characterized by drawing on-site the wonderful ambience created by the city itself, from a wide range of perspectives and using diverse artistic techniques. Urban Sketchers Córdoba forms part of the international community of urban drawing artists. It is a movement which was created in Seattle in 2007 and then spread all over the world, bringing together professional and amateur lovers of drawing.
The official opening of the exhibition will take place on Monday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Casa Árabe Headquarters (Calle Samuel de los Santos Gener, 9). As part of the opening event, Miguel Ángel De la Fuente Frechoso and Rosa de Gabriel Córdoba, two of the members of Urban Sketchers Córdoba whose works form part of the exhibition, will be giving a talk at our auditorium, to be introduced by Javier Rosón, Casa Árabe’s coordinator in Cordoba.
Their conversation will revolve around the topic “Belonging to the USK group means forming part of a community with a common interest: a passion for drawing.” “This means learning from the group. It means discovering aspects of the city that you could not otherwise appreciate unless you look at it differently. Looking at it to draw it. It also means creating bonds of friendship with other people who love drawing. It means hosting the visitors who come to our city with their sketch pads. It means sharing your view of the city with the world, while enjoying and learning from the work of others. There are thousands of us around the world, and our community never stops growing.”
