On Wednesday, May 5, we will be learning about the therapeutic, cosmetic and culinary properties of many of the flowers which have been used since the era of the caliphs in Al-Andalus. This will take part within the framework of the Nights of Ramadan. Sing up now before the workshop is full.

At this workshop, we will recreate three areas in which the physicians of Al-Andalus performed research in their era, because the gardens of the caliphs were also used as laboratories, and the many concoctions and curative preparations they made were recorded in the sources under the name of “pharmacopoeia.” During the workshop, we will get a look at the therapeutic, cosmetic and culinary properties held by many of the flowers used since that era in al-Andalus.

We will start off by working with the natural essence of jasmine or orange blossom. We will then continue by producing a moisturizing serum based on rosehip, pomegranate, argan and incense, and we will talk about the therapeutic properties of orange blossom and the different parts of the orange tree, as well as other flowers typical of Andalusian tradition. The workshop will end with a tasting in which we will take a closer look at the use of flowers in cooking.
