The purpose of the meeting includes creating and building a theatrical project based on Moorish and Castilian mysticism through different stages of training. The project will be presented to the public in October 2022 at Casa Árabe.
Coordinated by the directors of both schools, José Manuel Mora and Raquel Jurado, along with Professors Javier Hernando and Lola Botello, the project allows for the selected students’ cultural and educational immersion in the cities of Cordoba and Valladolid, as a starting point for their educational experience. In the case of Castilian mysticism, the meeting will be based upon the works of San Juan de la Cruz and Santa Teresa de Jesús.
In the case of Moorish mysticism, the project will address works by Ibn Arabi and Wallada bint al-Mustaki. In addition to the Cordoba and Castilla y Leon ESAD schools, the project is being held with the cooperation of the Cervantes House-Museum in Valladolid and the Andalusian Youth Institute (Autonomous Regional Government of Andalusia).
The students will receive multidisciplinary training from various performing arts professionals, including José Manuel Mora, Lola Botello, Javier Hernando and Eduardo Chivite, as well as taking part in cultural immersion activities which allow them to discover the city, including tours of the Mosque-Cathedral, Cordoba’s Jewish quarter and the Medina Azahara archeological site.
Some of these activities will be open to the public, like the workshop “The Lived Experience: Ibn Arabi, movement and dance” by Patricia Álvarez, theworkshop “Andalusian Poetesses, Scientists and Wise Women: Doing away with stereotypes and myths” by novelist Matilde Cabello, and the concert “Kereshmeh” by dancer Patricia Alvarez and musician Kaveh Sarvarian, all to be held at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Cordoba (at Calle Samuel de los Santos Gener, 9).
