Young people, women and education in the Maghreb

From December 15, 2010 until January 13, 2011

Abdeljalil Akkari, Comparative Education Professor at the University of Geneva will give a speech in Madrid on January 13th about Young people, women and education in the Maghreb.

Akkari will draw a picture of the situation of education in the central Maghreb region, pointing out the main achievements since the countries became independent, and  the challenges they face in a globalized world. He will mention key issues such as illiteracy, education privatization or language diversity, as well as women and young people as social sectors of unavoidable reference.

The professor has recently published La educación en el Magreb. Un desarrollo inacabado [Education in the Maghreb region. An unfinished development], co-edited by Casa Árabe and Icaria.

The conferences will take place at 19.30h at the Casa Árabe's Auditorium in Madrid (c/ Alcalá, 62). Free entrance.
