BARCELONA
The competition, launched in 2008 by the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) with the cooperation of the Anna Lindh Foundation, brings together the voices of young people, essential role-players in change, to discuss social, cultural, economic and political dialogue issues, as laid down in the Barcelona Declaration of 1995.

The contest is intended for young people between the ages of 18 and 30 from the countries of the South and East Mediterranean and the European Union to encourage debate over common challenges and shared values. The selected works will be published in a digital book containing texts in the original language and their corresponding translation into English.

Each edition focuses on a different topic or issue. Using their creativity, young people from all over the Mediterranean basin share their thoughts and reflections on this topic through writing. By narrating real-life and fictitious experiences, these youths give a personal, historical or anthropological viewpoint of issues and realities which, regardless of geographical and cultural distances, are shared throughout the entire Euro-Mediterranean region.

The authors of the ten best texts chosen by an international jury will be invited to Barcelona on November 24, 2022, as part of Mediterranean Day. For three days, they will take part in in the awards ceremony, creative workshops and cultural exchanges that provide common meeting spaces.
