Various experts on the matter attended the round table which took place in Vienna, on September 6th 2012, titled “Countering Intolerance against Muslims through Education within the context of societies in transition”.
Organized by the OSCE / ODIHR, it has three thematic axes: The role of Education in promoting tolerance, mutual respect and understanding within societies in transition; praxis to counter intolerance against Muslims through Education; and its future implementation.
Casa Árabe’s stance is based on the need to reform teachers (both at a University level and non-university ones), as well as the society as a whole body because it is present on this process, specially taking into account an improvement on mutual knowledge, teaching skills and resources at hand, as the most effective way to counter intolerance and discrimination in Spain towards Muslims as individuals and as a community.
