Acknowledgment given to Casa Árabe for its support of Medina Azahara

The institution’s General Director was given a diploma which acknowledges the efforts made by Casa Árabe to support the city of the caliphs’ candidacy to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At an official event held on Friday, July 10, with attendance by the President of the Autonomous Regional Government of Andalusia, Susana Díaz, and the Mayor of Cordoba, Isabel Ambrosio, the General Director of Casa Árabe, Pedro Martínez-Avial, was bestowed with a diploma acknowledging Casa Árabe’s contribution to this mission, directly from the President of the Provincial Government Office, Antonio Ruiz Cruz.

The “city of the caliphs,” Medina Azahara, was included on the List of World Heritage Sites with a Declaration of its Exceptional Universal Value in a decision reached by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which met at its 42nd session in Manama, Bahrain on July 1, 2018.
