Algeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs visits Casa Árabe
As part of a work visit ti Spain, the country's representative visited our Madrid headquarters on Monday, March 29.

Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sabri Boukadoum, visited Casa Árabe’s Madrid headquarters on Monday, March 29, as part of an official program that included a series of meetings: with the Fourth Vice President and Minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge; the President of the Spain’s Congress of Deputies; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation; the President of the Government, and with the Algerian community residing in Spain, as well as an audience with H.M. the King.
The event at Casa Árabe took place in the Auditorium. Presented by Casa Árabe’s Director General, Pedro Martínez-Avial, the event dealt with the principles of Algerian foreign policy and its relations with Spain. Among those in attendance were the Spanish ambassador in Algiers and the Algerian ambassador in Madrid, as well as the Algerian delegation accompanying the minister, members of Congress, the academic community and businesspeople, who had the opportunity to ask questions at the end of Mr. Boukadoum’s speech.
Among the topics highlighted by the minister were: instability in the Sahel and the recommendation to address development issues in order to hinder organized crime and illegal migration; the June 2021 elections and how the new constitution may allow for a parliamentary organization in which the Hirak movement is represented; the country’s openness to Spanish investment in industries like mining, renewable energies, tourism, construction and transportation infrastructure; the uncertainty caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the potential for reopening airports once 60% of the Algerian population has been vaccinated, and the good historical relationship between Algeria and Spain.
