Artists from the Art Bridges project visit Casa Árabe

A delegation of artists from Spain’s Ministry of Culture and the Visual Arts Commission of Saudi Arabia visited Casa Árabe on Monday, June 22, as part of a trip organized by the cultural consulting firm Alserkal Advisory. 

The project which brought this delegation here, known as Art Bridges, works to create research and exchange programs for Saudi artists and cultural professionals, so that they can explore different ways to experience and comprehend the contemporary art scenes in countries like Japan, Ireland, South Korea and Spain. 

During their visit, Karim Hauser, Casa Árabe’s Cultural Events Coordinator, explained the work performed by Casa Árabe throughout its twenty-year history, and our institution’s General Director, Miguel Moro Aguilar, welcomed them, then accompanying them on a tour of the photo exhibition Time Together, which provides an overview of the highlights in Spain’s relations with the Arab countries in various fields, as well as two decades of the institution’s work towards supporting these relations through public diplomacy. 

Art Bridges is a cultural exchange and professional development initiative launched by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Culture’s Visual Arts Commission. Its purpose is to empower visual artists and cultural professionals by sending them abroad as creative ambassadors to global destinations. Participants are selected through highly competitive open application processes announced on official government portals and cultural websites. 

The program’s main objectives include immersive studio visits and networking sessions for participants to share Saudi perspectives and build long-term international networks. In Spain,the focus has been on heritage and collective art practice, and the program has been managed through the cultural consultancy Alserkal Advisory, headquartered in the United Arab Emirates.
