Murder of twenty-one Egyptian Christians in Libya

The Government of Spain and Casa Árabe express their disgust and indignation

February 16, 2015
MADRID
Spain is outraged to receive news about the murder of twenty-one Egyptian Christians in Libya by terrorists who, by claiming to have committed this abject crime, have expressed their affiliation with Daesh and their motives based on religious hatred.
The Government expresses its utmost disgust over the cruel murders of these innocent people and its profound sadness, which it would like to express to the victims’ family and friends, and to the people and authorities of Egypt.

Spain calls all of the parties concerned in Libya to set aside their differences in order to deal with the terrorist threat. Terrorism must not be allowed to undermine Libya’s transition towards democracy and stability. Spain supports the UN’s efforts to achieve a political solution to the current crisis.
