Awaiting the Three Wise Men from the East. Lights, shadows and tales

The evening before the Three Wise Men arrive in Madrid, Casa Árabe organizes a set of activities focused on children that includes the shadow threatre "Shadows of the world" and the storyteller "Roken al-Hakawati". This activities will take place on January 3rd, 4th and 5th, before the arrive of the Three Wise Men.

Shadow theatre  “Shadows of the world”


The show of the company aSombras narrates the story of a long travel: the shadow theater's Eastern origins and its long pilgrimage, all along China, India, Persia and the Middle East, up to our land on this side of the Mediterranean Sea. Their main characters are a master hatmaker, his evasive donkey and a suitcase full of puppets. A simple and funny way of introducing children to the magic world of lights and shadows, as they learn the richness and diversity of other cultures all over the world. For children aged 6 (or older).

This activity will take place on January 3rd, 4th and 5th from 12.00 to 13.30 at Casa Árabe Madrid (c/ Alcalá, 62). Free entrance.

Storyteller “Roken al-Hakawati”


Some narrators from the company Halka will tell oral traditional stories from the East and the Mediterranean Sea, as has been and is still being done in public squares and houses all over the world.
For children aged 5 (or older).

This activity will take place on January 3rd and 4th from 18.00 to 19.00 at Casa Árabe Madrid (c/ Alcalá, 62). Free entrance.
