Book published on the exhibition “On Exodus and Wind: Spanish exile in the Maghreb (1939-1962).” 

The book tells the little-known story of the thousands of people who had to leave Spain at the end of the Civil War to find refuge in the Maghreb: Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco. It has been published by Spain’s Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory and edited by Juan Valbuena, visual curator of the exhibition with the same name.

The story presents photographs, texts, documents and objects in a two-fold chronological and emotional journey through the successive states of mind experienced during this lengthy exile: Fear (1939), Indignation (1939-43), Hope (1943-45) and Resignation (1945-1962).
