Casa Árabe at La Navideña 2017

For yet another year, Casa Árabe is taking part in La Navideña. The International Fair of Cultures, with a stand devoted to the Arab world: the stand is number 64.

December 15, 2017
MADRID
At this third edition, to be held at Madrid’s Matadero complex from December 15 through 29, with the cooperation of embassies from over 70 countries and various international institutions, La Navideña will be displaying different ways to celebrate Christmas around the world. To do this, it will be offering a schedule with more contents and twice the duration in 2017.

The dinner table and kitchen will be playing the starring roles, always understood as a meeting point and place for celebration and cultural wealth. That is why gourmet cuisine will also be highlighted in 2017, with offerings by well-known chefs and an agenda filled with show cooking events, tastings, tests and workshops to learn how to cook recipes from a wide range of countries and cultures. Casa Árabe is organizing a gourmet cuisine activity with the title “Ahlan at the Table.” You can find further information by following this link.

La Navideña is devoting its publication for this third year of the event to the book “Manual for Seasoning the World: A recipe book for holidays and celebrations,” a journey through the flavors of the world in the form of a recipe book containing typical dishes served at winter holidays and Christmas.

Using this handbook, the men and women of Madrid can learn to cook dishes like quiche lorraine from France, enchiladas from Mexico, moussaka from Greece, the famous codfish from Portugal and piononos from Argentina, without leaving out the typical recipes from Spain, like the muffins baked by our Mayor or the classical roscón de Reyes. With illustrations by Venezuelan artist Victoria Fernández, over 60 recipes making up the book are accompanied by texts of an artistic nature which link these culinary items with the cultural traditions from each country. On sale at the fair itself for a modest price, the funds collected will be donated in their entirety to the NGO Ayuda en Acción.

Moreover, the Fair is offering more than 300 activities free of charge for people of all ages, tastes and sensitivities. These activities include handicraft stands, classical Christmas concerts, DJs, dancing and singing sessions, games, workshops, fashion shows, various shows, film series and much more. Along with these activities, you will also find the most international Christmas market in Madrid, offering over 70 stands from around the world, where you can taste, purchase and, without a doubt, feed your curiosity about the traditions in all these countries and their realities.
