Casa Árabe will once again be participating in Mexico’s Arab Week, co-organized by El Colegio de México and the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE), with the cooperation of the National Museum of Anthropology and History, the Secretary of Foreign Relations of Mexico and the Alliance Française of Mexico. This commitment was established during a meeting between Karim Hauser, who is responsible for Casa Árabe’s Governance area, Camila Pastor, a researching professor in the History Department of the CIDE, and Gilberto Conde, a researching professor at the Asia and Africa Studies Center of El Colegio de México.
The fifth edition of Arab Week in Mexico, which will be taking place from November 3-7, 2014 at both sites (El Colegio de México and CIDE), will be organized around a series of academic conferences and seminars, with experts from the Middle East, the United States and Europe, to analyze the contemporary Arab reality. As a complement to the colloquium on Diversities in the Arab World, the following week a series of cultural activities will be presented, mainly at the headquarters of the Alliance Française and the National Anthropology and History Library. As for the Cultural Center of Spain in Mexico, it is evaluating the possibility of joining the initiative and hosting the exhibition From Qurtuba to Córdoba, organized by Casa Árabe.
