The first of these two visits took them to Casa Asia, an institution which also forms part of the Network of “Casas” run by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation. Our two institutions have very close relations. There they met with José Pintor Aguilar, the director of Casa Asia, who explained the main strategic lines followed by that entity, with the goal of discovering new ways to collaborate in the future.
They then moved on to the headquarters of the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), where they held a meeting with Senén Florensa, its Executive President, Roger Albinyana, the Managing Director, and Gemma Aubarel, the center’s Director of the Dept. of Culture, Gender and Civil Society. During their meeting, they outlined the projects that both institutions share in common and which will see the light of day in upcoming months.
The third visit took place at the Palace of Pedralbes, where the headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean (UpM) is located. There they met with the Deputy Secretary General, Joan Borrell, and discussed issues of common interest, particularly with regard to education, research and youth in the Mediterranean region. This year, the institution is celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of the Barcelona Process, under the slogan “Together for a Stronger Euro-Mediterranean Partnership.”
