The Group of Arab Ambassadors in Madrid, led by the Ambassador of Algeria and head of the group, Mohammed Hanèche, offered a reception on June 9 to honor Casa Árabe and its General Director, Eduardo López Busquets.

The event, at which Ambassador Hanèche awarded López Busquets with a plaque acknowledging the work done by the Spanish diplomat at the helm of Casa Árabe, made clear the importance that Arab ambassadors place upon the work carried out by this institution to promote and facilitate closer ties and knowledge between Spain and the countries in the region, in the fields of politics, economics and culture. The Arab ambassadors’ representative also highlighted the importance which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation places on the region, which is given shape in its commitment to an institution for public diplomacy like Casa Árabe. He placed a special emphasis on its work to promote the Spain Brand in all of its activities abroad. Likewise, Ambassador Hanèche underlined by initiative of the Second Spain-Arab Countries Economic and Business Forum, which took place on June 12 at Casa Árabe in Madrid.

10_anios_casa_arabeAs for the General Director of Casa Árabe, he expressed thanks to the Arab diplomats on behalf of the entire institution and its team for this acknowledgment, highlighting the value of the work they perform in coordination with these embassies, the bodies of the Public Administration which make up the consortium, national and international institutions and all types of role-players in civil society.

It turns out that this acknowledgment has been given at a time when the institution is preparing the events for commemoration of its tenth anniversary (2006-2016), which will be taking place as of next January. At this time, the consortium led by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation has become a point of reference in our country for all matters related with the Arab and/or Islamic world, for both expert researchers and journalists, as well as all types of professionals and members of the public with an interest.
