During their meeting, the Palestinian diplomat congratulated the director on his recent appointment, and they discussed the possibilities for cooperation between the two entities, including the promotion of Palestinian culture and heritage, and the organization of joint activities.

Spain recognized the State of Palestine on May 28, 2024. Diplomatic relations between the two countries are very good, at the economic, scientific, academic and cooperation levels. Spain’s exports to Palestine have grown over the last decade, especially in terms of trade in vehicles, pharmaceuticals, construction materials, ceramic tiles and lifting machinery.

The main programs and projects of Spanish Cooperation are aimed at promoting democratic governance, increasing the people’s participation and furthering respect for human rights, sustainable economic development, gender equality and humanitarian aid. Spain is a leading European donor in the agricultural sector.

Through the Heritage for Development Program, Spanish Cooperation is supporting the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee to restore and revitalize part of that city’s historical center through an investment of nearly six million euros. Important activities have also been carried out in Bethlehem.
