From May 19 to 22, institutions from different religious faiths in cities all over Spain benefited from this aid. The distribution of food baskets was performed with the cooperation of many different associations and foundations of a local, regional and national nature, including the Islamic Association of Valencia and the city’s “Centro Arrupe,” the Medina Azahara Food Bank of Cordoba, the Dar Al Anwar Center of Granada, the Nazaret Foundation of Madrid, the Ahl Al Sunna Mosque and the parish church of San Ignacio de Loyola, also located in the capital. The trip helped create closer bonds between the FICRT and all of these institutions, in terms of taking part in other joint charitable aid initiatives.

The Foundation for Islamic Culture and Religious Tolerance (FICRT), presided over by Alfred G. Kavanagh and directed by Jumaa Al Kaabi, has maintained its steadfast commitment to Spanish civil society since the year of 2017, to promote a spirit of tolerance and build bridges within the framework of interreligious and cultural dialogue. Moreover, in the document signed in Abu Dhabi by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, on February 5, 2019, the FICRT acknowledges this path of solidarity and universal brotherhood, able to build bridges so that cultural, religious and ethnic diversity are always a factor that helps contribute to twenty-first century societies.
