CIHAR Diamond Medals award ceremony 

The Intercultural Spanish-Arab Circle (CIHAR) will be presenting these awards at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid on Tuesday, March 25. The medals are being bestowed posthumously to three honorary members who have passed away in recent years. 

CIHAR’s Diamond Medals will be awarded to:

- Federico Mayor Zaragoza
- Pedro Martínez Montávez
- Mahmud Sobh al-Kurdi

Their intellectual lives in favor of interculturalism was well-known in many aspects, which is why CIHAR’s Board of Directors considers them examples to follow on the path of interculturalism and the effort to achieve social understanding and universal peace.

The event will be taking place as of 7:00 p.m. in Casa Árabe’s Hall of Ambassadors (located at Calle Alcalá, 62) in accordance with the following schedule:

7:00 p.m. Opening event Welcome speech by Casa Árabe
Words of welcome by CIHAR
Speech by the representative of the family of Federico Mayor Zaragoza
Speech by the representative of the family of Pedro Martínez Montávez
Speech by the representative of the family of Mahmud Sobh al-Kurdi

7:30 p.m. Musical performance by Ukrainian violinist Viktor Babak

7:45 p.m. Medals ceremony

8:00 p.m. Musical performance by Ukrainian violinist Viktor Babak. 8:15 p.m. Family photo and farewell.
