CÓRDOBA
The main purpose of the conference is to study the relations between Spain and Algeria in ancient times by analyzing the territory and its archeological record. It will be held at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Cordoba (c/ Samuel de los Santos Gener, 9) in Spanish on Friday, September 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Free entry until capacity is reached.

Among the activities planned by the project in order to achieve its objectives, one will be the holding of a series of scientific gathering to publicize the approaches and results achieved, as well as serving as a place for scientific debate with other researchers who are working on this topic. Among its goals, the project has the firm intention of including researchers from different African countries who work on these subjects, especially from Algeria, in order to demonstrate the existence of active, two-way cooperation that leads to a true integration of the various specialists in the same network. In doing this, the aim is to escape from the one-way colonialist model which has tended to prevail in scientific relations with the countries of Africa.

The event will include the following list of participants and topics at the scientific meeting.

- Bartolomé Mora and Antonio Sáez (University of Malaga) . “The two shores of the Alborán Sea: the Malaka, Maenoba and Russadir project.”

- Paul Scheding (DAI Madrid). “General overview of relations between Africa and Hispania”

- Fabiola Salcedo (Universidad Complutense de Madrid). “The Spanish-Tunisian project of Kasserine”

- Salah Salhi (Université d’Oran 1). “General overview of Spanish-Algerian relations from a cultural perspective”

- Victoria Amorós (University of Alicante). “Relations between the Iberian Peninsula and Islamic Maghreb based on material culture”

- Sabine Panzram (Universität Hamburg). “Hispania and North Africa: the ATLAS project perspective”

- Tariq Ghodbani (Université d’Oran 2). “SIGA: foundations for a new Spanish-Algerian project”.
