Eleventh Annual Meeting of CIHAR and awarding of Gold Medals for 2024
On Thursday, June 12, Casa Árabe is hosting this annual meeting of the Spanish-Arab Intercultural Circle (CIHAR) at its headquarters in Madrid, when its awards for the past year will be given out.

The meeting will be held at Casa Árabe’s Hall of Ambassadors in Madrid (Calle Alcalá, 62) on Thursday, June 12, at 11:30 a.m. During the event, gold medals will be presented to the entities and persons chosen for the awards.
This year’s CIHAR 2024 Gold Medal recipients are:
In the category of individuals:
Dr. Juan Martos Quesada – An Arabist, who specializes in Islamism. He is receiving the award for his career in teaching and research as an Arabist and for putting the Spanish-Arabic cultural legacy to use as a vehicle for interculturalism.
Dr. Mohammed Dahiri – A Hispanist and professor of Arabic and Islamic studies. He is receiving the award for his career in teaching and as a researcher of migration, diversity and inclusiveness, providing an added value to the culture of coexistence as a vehicle for interculturalism.
Dr. Reynaldo Fernández Manzano – A medievalist, organ player and musicologist. He is receiving the award for his career as an intellectual and researcher of the music of Al-Andalus, placing value on the heritage of of Al-Andalus as a vehicle for interculturalism.
In the category of entities:
Casa Mediterráneo – A public consortium of Spain. Being awarded for its outstanding work in cultural diplomacy in the Mediterranean basin, highlighting the rich cultural differences which exist there to promote intercultural sensitivity.
The Toledo School of Translators – Research Center of the University of Castilla-La Mancha. It is receiving the award for its excellent work in translation across many centuries, as well as educating translators, and for its care of the Arabic language and Spanish-Arabic history to help promote interculturalism.
CEAAT – Arab Studies Center – Center for the Teaching of Arabic – Uruguay and Argentina. It is receiving the award for its excellent work towards dissemination of the Arabic language, Arab culture and Spanish-Arabic history in order to promote interculturalism.
Siyâsa Museum – City Council of Cieza – Murcia. It is receiving this award for its excellent work towards the dissemination of culture, above all the culture of Al-Andalus, and Spanish-Arabic history in general, as a way of promoting interculturalism.
