Fifth Meeting of Algerian and Spanish Leaders

The Fifth Meeting of Algerian and Spanish Leaders took place in Algiers on January 10, at which the importance of Casa Árabe as a space to be used for encounters between these two countries was made evident.

After the meeting, presided over by the His Excellency Mr. Abdelaziz BOUTEFLIKA, President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, and His Excellency Mr. Mariano RAJOY, President of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain, with participation by members of both governments, the Project for a Common Declaration titled “New impulse for a renewed partnership” was produced and can be downloaded in full by clicking on the “Documents” tab.

According to this text, within this new stage of their strategic partnership, the two countries have agreed to make all means within their reach available to promote political, economic, social and cultural exchanges between the two countries. Within this framework, Spain would like to offer both Casa Árabe and Casa del Mediterráneo as meeting points for use within this bilateral relationship. Both parties expressed their congratulations for the holding of Algeria Week at Casa Árabe, on the occasion of the Fiftieth Anniversary of Algeria’s Independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations.
