First Edition of the King Hamad Award for Coexistence and Tolerance Unveiled

The King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance in Bahrain has announced the launch of this award, which is open to individuals and institutions worldwide. The deadline for submitting nominations is October 10.

Established pursuant to Royal Decree No. (32) of 2024, this is an international initiative that embodies the values rooted in Bahrain’s history and civilization, including openness toward all civilizations, religions, and cultures, as well as the fostering of coexistence and the promotion of peace and harmony worldwide.

In this regard, the Award aims to recognize individuals and institutions that have made exceptional and well-documented contributions to fostering a culture of tolerance and coexistence, promoting dialogue among civilizations and mutual respect, and generating a positive and sustainable impact on communities.

In addition to the cash prize, which amounts to one million U.S. dollars, the recipients receive a certificate of recognition and a medal, which are presented at a ceremony held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, honorary president of the Award.

The jury will be composed of prominent figures from Bahrain and around the world with expertise in the political, parliamentary, human rights, academic, religious, and international cooperation fields.
