First Meeting of the Egypt Working Group

Work Group on the transition process in Egypt
Throughout 2014

December 16, 2013
The Madrid Office of the European Council of Foreign Relations (ECFR) is holding the first meeting of the Egypt Working Group in the Ambassadors Hall at Casa Árabe. This multidisciplinary group of experts, European diplomatic and government leaders is aimed at closely tracking the complex process of transition in Egypt from various perspectives, including constitutional reform, the political and social context, geopolitical factors, and other topics.

The Work Group will be meeting periodically in 2014, inviting speakers and experts with the objective of performing an all-encompassing analysis of the situation in Egypt and orienting the political agenda of the EU and other role-players involved. This first session included a speech by Anthony Dworkin, Senior Policy Fellow of ECFR, and Hélène Michou, who gave reports on the prospects of the transition process after their recent visit to the country.

These encounters form part of the work program of ECFR Madrid with AECID through the Masar program.
