Artworks from young photographers and filmmakers living in Syria

December 20, 2013
Since 2012, DOX BOX Int’l Documentary Film Festival of Syria and the Prince Claus Fund in the Netherlands have organised TAKWEEN, a training programme for young photographers and filmmakers living in Syria. TAKWEEN (Arabic for ‘formation’), provides between three and four months of training, mentoring and technical support annually to a group of photographers between 18 and 25 years. Every year, new participants are selected from the talented network of The Lens of Young Homsi.

Through the TAKWEEN training programme, extraordinary photographers and filmmakers have emerged. Their unique ways of conveying their daily lives inside Syria today demand a broader audience.

In order to share these unique perspectives with the rest of the world, DOX BOX Int’l Documentary Film Festival and the Prince Claus Fund have created From Inside: A Diary of Syria, a photography and video blog showcasing the work of three young Syrian photographers each month. Through the diary entries, young photographers from across Syria will have a platform to share their everyday lives through their words and outstanding photos.
