Global Forum for the Alliance of Civilizations 

The ninth edition of this forum will be taking place on November 22 and 23 in Fez, Morocco, with the title “Towards an Alliance for Peace: Living together as one sole humanity.” Casa Árabe’s General Director, Irene Lozano, is taking part in the session dedicated to “Sports as a vector for peace and inclusiveness.”

For two days, the Moroccan city of Fez will be hosting the ninth Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.

The conference will begin on Tuesday, November 22 at 9:00 a.m., with an opening ceremony attended by the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, the United Nations High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, and representatives of Spain and Turkey, the meeting sponsors.

The first plenary session will be held at 12:00 pm, with a thematic debate focusing on building peaceful, cohesive and just societies through interreligious, intercultural and intercivilizational dialogue.

The next day, Wednesday, November 23, the morning’s thematic debate will focus on the fight against violent extremism, while the afternoon debate will discuss the role of religious leaders in promoting peace, co-existence and social harmony.

The forum will end with a reading of the Fez Declaration and the meeting’s conclusions.

At the same time as this event, an Islamic art exhibition and workshops have been organized, along with a World Youth Forum for the prevention of violent extremism through sports.
