This House-Museum is unique in the world, because it displays how the original Umayyad techniques for working leather to use it decoratively in tenth-century Cordoba were recovered. In a magical atmosphere on the occasion of Cordoba’s Nights of Ramadan, we will get to witness this work as it was actually performed by the Umayyads when producing their “guadamecíes” (gilded cordovan works), famous throughout the entire world for their aesthetic quality and awe-inspiring beauty. A guide will take us on a tour through time and history as you get a look at the intricacies of a culture lost in time, and how different role-players at the museum have worked to keep these artistic values alive. The tour will explain the need for creating this museum, showing its collection and the different artisanal techniques which made Cordoba so famous throughout the world.
The tour will be taking place at Calle Agrupación de Cofradías, s/n in Cordoba, at 9:00 p.m.
