The year 2019 Hikma Award for institutional work was granted to the Islamic Library (AECID Library), considering both the significance of that institution in the field of research and the formation of a collection specializing in the Arab world and Islam, with many topics of interest to scholars who study philosopher Ibn Arabi. The award is devoted to acknowledging “initiatives, centers and institutions which contribute to promoting Arab and Islamic Studies by fomenting the sharing of knowledge and creative dialogue amongst diverse discourses, beliefs and cultural registers.”

The other award winners were Paulo Borges (Ibn Arabi-Taryumán Award) and Eduardo Paniagua (Ibn Arabi-Barzaj Award).

The awards ceremony took place as part of the Ninth International Ibn Arabi Symposium at the Universidad de la Mística (CITeS) in Ávila and was organized by MIAS-Latina and the CITeS from May 10 to 12. After the awards were given out, there was a closing ceremony with musical accompaniment by Eduardo Paniagua and César Carazo.
