Iraq: A Decade of Upheaval
The Cordoba Foundation and The Sharq Forum are organizing an international conference on the tenth anniversary of the war in Iraq, on April 8 in London.
March 18, 2013
The event, the title of which is Iraq: Ten Years Later, A Decade of Upheaval, will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Commonwealth Club in London (25 Northumberland Ave, London WC2N 5AP).
Ten years later, Iraq continues searching for a national identity to provide it with unity. After 2003, the different Iraqi communities withdrew to their ethnic and sectarian enclaves seeking protection and the survival of their varied cultures. At the present time, the country is being rapidly divided into three separate de facto entities. At this conference, we will review and examine the achievements and failures of a long decade of intervention in Iraq, led by Western forces and regional powers. As a result, we will analyze the nature and form of the future international interventions in the region. Despite the high cost to the state and society, Iraq will continue to play a strategic role in this region of the world as it deals with its internal policy and carries out social changes. At the conference, the attempt shall be made to establish certain foundations so that Iraqis can feel safe and equal, while enjoying the benefits of a real democracy.
Participation in the conference is only possible by invitation or registration. In order to attend, download the Expression of Interest form on The Cordoba Foundation website. Please complete the form and send it to admin@thecordobafoundation.com
