Islamic Finance in an Arab and Muslim World Undergoing Transformation
Casa Árabe is taking part in a course titled “The Arab and Muslim World
Undergoing Transformation in 2017,” organized by the Institute of
Studies on Conflicts and Humanitarian Action (IECAH) at Casa Encendida,
to be held from October 3 to 27.
October 23, 2017
MADRID
Using revolutions of an obviously political nature as a framework, the course shows an interest in analyzing the socio-political and economic context in which this broad movement came about, aspiring to consolidate democratic processes with full respect for human rights and guarantees for the basic freedoms of individuals. Within this context, Olivia Orozco, the Training and Economic Coordinator, gave a session titled “Islamic Finance,” focused in particular on the development which this type of finance has undergone in the countries of North Africa in recent years, as part of an economic agenda of Islamist parties and movements that have come to take over power or play a predominant role in the opposition.
