February 27, 2015
MADRID
This year, Spanish Cooperation, through the Spanish Development Cooperation Agency (AECID) is marking International Women’s Day by discussing its work on equality policies and women’s political participation in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), an area in which Spanish Cooperation is working hard within the framework of initiatives such as the Masar Program and others of a multilateral and bilateral nature.

On March 5, starting at 9:30 a.m., the results of the OECD report titled “Women in Public Life: Gender, Law and Policy in the Middle East and North Africa” will be presented. This report was supported by the AECID, and the contributions made by Spanish Cooperation in this field will be made more visible. The event will take place at the AECID Events Room (Avenida Reyes Católicos, 4, Madrid). In order to attend, you must sign up in advance (here).

The meeting will be divided into two thematic sessions, one involving gender equality policies and gender-sensitive budgets, while the other will focus more on the advancements in legal reforms for gender equality and promoting the political participation of women.

Participating in the event will be representatives of the bodies of the Spain’s public administration and some of the countries in the region, as well as representatives of civil society, members of non-governmental organizations and OECD representatives. The event schedule is attached.
