During their meeting, held on Friday, May 22, and attended by Casa Árabe’s Training and Economic Coordinator, Olivia Orozco, a line of cooperation was proposed involving Contemporary Arab Studies and current academic research, as part of an initiative that would bring together universities in Spain to evaluate and highlight the research done by young scholars, including Master’s degree and PhD candidates. Another area to be developed beyond this is the relationship with the academic community in Latin America and its connection to Arab studies in Spanish.

The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CEARC) is an independent non-profit association with no political or religious affiliations. Its goal is to promote awareness among the Spanish-speaking public about the political, economic and social realities found in the contemporary Arab world, as well as connecting the Spanish-speaking and Arabic-speaking research and academic communities working in these fields. Based in Madrid, CEARC seeks to address the fundamental aspects of Spanish-Arab and Euro-Arab relations through academic research, policy analysis, cooperation with other institutions and social role-players and educational exchanges.
