The Parliament is a forum for cultural dialogue that brings together authors from both sides of the Mediterranean to promote collaboration and mutual understanding through literary creation. The heads of both institutions agreed on the importance of strengthening cultural ties at a time like the present, as well as sharing the experiences of authors from countries in the region through joint projects and activities.

They also discussed the dates and content of the next edition of the Parliament of Writers from the Mediterranean, which will be hosted by Casa Árabe at its headquarters in Madrid, bringing together leading writers for a two-day event at which the Parliament will also be giving out various awards.

In 2019, Casa Árabe already hosted a meeting of the Parliament, thus strengthening its role as a benchmark for meetings amongst Mediterranean writers. This shared path reaffirms the parties’ mutual commitment to raising the profile of contemporary literature and building solid bridges between Spain and the Arab world.
