MADRID
The seminar forms part of the activities planned by the R&D&I research project “Religious Conflict in the Peninsular Middle Ages: Confrontation, coexistence, and cohabitation,” hosted by Casa Árabe, which aims to explore three approaches to this reality. First one based on the miniatures in Beatus of Liébana’s Commentary on the Apocalypse, so often associated with the context of border friction between the Andalusians and feudal forces. Secondly, from the perspective and vision that Arab legal sources reflect of the Mozarabic “other.” And last of all, from the study of the monumental sculpture in the cloister of Santo Domingo de Silos, also connected with an argument that appealed to the conflict between Islam and Christianity.
The seminar will be taking place on Wednesday, November 26, starting at 4:00 p.m. in Casa Árabe’s Hall of Ambassadors (at Calle Alcalá, 62, First Floor) and will include the following talks:
- The miniatures in Beatus of Liébana’s Commentary on the Apocalypse and Islam: current state of the subject matter with some observations
