New tours of Islamic Madrid

The Center for Studies on Islamic Madrid (CEMI), which forms part of the Islamic Culture Foundation (FUNCI), has organized new tours of Arab Madrid on February and March. You can sign up now.

With the title:  “I was built upon waters, my walls made of fire.” These tours offer the chance to discover a historical, unknown Madrid through the marks and vestiges left behind that gave rise to the city. Madrid is, in fact, the only European capital to have been founded by Muslims in the ninth century. On these tours, we will get an overview of the legacy of the Madrid of Al-Andalus and the Mudéjar period still existing up to the modern day, revealing what everyday life was like back in medieval times. All of this information will be presented by specialists who will show us the remains of Islamic Madrid in a thorough but, at the same time, entertaining way.
