TOLEDO

Casa Árabe is cooperating on the hold of this international seminar on the dates of March 22, 23 and 24 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. (session times vary) at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, in a hybrid live/remote format taking place out of the School of Humanities in Toledo, as part of the fourteenth edition of the Spring Series of Humanities Seminars.

The popular uprisings of 2011 resulted in the overthrow of the presidents and leaders of Tunisia, Egypt and Libya and the beginning of a reform process of a different scope in Morocco and Algeria. The purpose of the seminar is to take stock of the social, political and economic situation in the North African countries ten years after the “Arab Spring.”

Directed by Bárbara Azaola (UCLM - Toledo), Miguel Hernando de Larramendi (UCLM - Toledo) and Irene González (UCLM - Cuenca), within the framework of the research activities performed by the Group of Studies on Arab and Muslim Societies (GRESAM/University of Castilla-La Mancha), with co-financing by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and the research project “Crisis and processes of regional change in North Africa: their implications for Spain” (CSO2017-84949-C3-3-P), which is funded by Spain’s Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness (MINECO), the State Research Agency (AEI) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
