The intended recipients of this award are degree-holders from Spanish universities who have earned their degree in one of the five years preceding the date of the contest notice and who are under the age of 35 years. Those under the age of 35 years who are currently studying their doctorate at the time of the contest announcement may also participate, regardless of the year when they graduated from university.

Those interested must send the title of their work and a 500-word summary, in which they highlight its innovative aspects to the secretariat of the Spanish Arab Studies Society (secretaria@estudiosarabes.org), by July 15, 2014, as well as their resume/CV and the documentation which accredits their status as a recent graduate or doctoral student. They must also demonstrate their knowledge of the Arabic language.

The Jury will evaluate the content of the research project, the clarity of the work being presented, the documentation submitted and its innovative nature.

Once the deadline for submission comes to an end, the Executive Board of the SEEA will select three candidates by July 31, 2014 and will inform them so that they may send an extended text on their research by September 10, 2014, and prepare a 20-30 minute communiqué on any aspect of Arab Studies, at the symposium which the Spanish Society of Arab Studies plans to hold in Cordoba on October 3, 2014. The selected candidates will receive economic aid to pay their travel and lodging costs in Cordoba.

The selected candidacy will be awarded with a prize of 1,000 euros. Moreover, Casa Árabe reserves the rights to the award-winning work for its potential publication or dissemination on a website. As for the Spanish Society of Arab Studies, it will publish the videos of the three finalist submissions on its website.
