Relations between the West and the Arab-Islamic world, conflicts and co-operation

From October 2022 to April 2023, the Universidad Complutense’s School of Information Sciences will be hosting this international seminar.

The seminar has been organized by the departmental section of International Relations and Global History at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid’s School of Information Sciences, with the cooperation of the Diplomatic Mission of the Arab League in Spain.

The goal of this seminar, mainly intended for Universidad Complutense students, but also for other groups interested in the seminar’s subject and contents, is to analyze and reflect upon relations between the West and the Arab and Islamic world, their conceptions, dimensions and future expectations.

It will be held from October 2022 through April 2023 at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid’s School of Information Sciences (address: Avda. Complutense s/n, 28040 Madrid). Throughout four thematic sessions, conferences, debates and colloquiums will be held with experts and specialists in order to reach the most appropriate explanations and scientific conclusions. The schedule of sessions is as follows:

Session 1. October 19, 2022 11:00 a.m.
The Palestinian-Israeli conflict and its impact on relations between the West and the Arab-Islamic world.

Session 2. November 16, 2022 11:00 a.m.
Euro-Mediterranean relations. Past and current affairs.

Session 3. March 22, 2023. 11:00 a.m.
The West - Islamic World: The media and mutual perceptions.

Session 4. April 20, 2023. 11:00 a.m.
Relations between the West and the Arab World given the new world order.
