Reopening of Casa Árabe’s restaurant and terrace

As of Tuesday, June 15, the restaurant and terrace at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid will be reopening to the public, thanks to an agreement signed between the institution and the “Acoge un Plato Catering” initiative of the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid (CEAR).

Starting over in another country is no easy task. Behind us lies a whole life, a home, loved ones and memories that will stay with us forever. The “Acoge un Plato Catering” (“Host a Dish Catering”) initiative created by the CEAR helps refugees who have fled their countries to build a new future, providing them a way to integrate socially and occupationally in Spain through cooking. This is how a different type of catering came into existence, adapted to any type of event with an offering of delicious dishes from all over the world and a strong taste of solidarity.

CEAR’s “Acoge un Plato Catering” will be in charge of the catering service at Casa Árabe’s headquarters in Madrid from Tuesday, June 15, on Sundays through Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. tomidnight and on Thursdays through Saturdays from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

This gourmet offerings will provide a journey through the aromas, flavors and colors of Arabian cuisine. Among the dishes that can be tasted on the menu are:

Hummus bi lahme    
Hummus, spiced lamb and lemon peel

Labneh (Lebanon)
With pistachios, olive oil and Lebanese bread with zaatar

Zaalouk (Morocco)
Roasted eggplant, tomato, marinated salmon and cilantro salad

Carrot salad (Algeria)
With orange, orange blossom and black olives

Batata Harra (Libya)
Sweet potato roasted with cilantro, spices and garlic sauce

Moorish sardines (Tunisia)
Pink tomato, smoked sardines and harissa

Shawarma mushakan (Palestine)
Chicken mushakan, garlic sauce and lettuce

Lamb tagine
Lamb shank, pears and cinnamon

Briouats
Almond and walnut pastry with lemon and orange blossom syrup

Moorish tea (Morocco)
Green tea, mint and lemon peel

Karkade (Egypt)
Hibiscus, orange and ginger flower
