LOS YÉBENES (TOLEDO)
In order to celebrate International Book Day, and as part of a project to promote reading by the Los Yébenes Town Council’s Department of Culture, Casa Árabe has cooperated to help organize a series of storytelling events and workshops on the Arabic alphabet and writing at the Guadalerzas Secondary School and the Los Yébenes House of Culture.

Taught by Saida Chermiti, the manager of the Arabic Language Center (CLA) and Dima Yousef Raghis, a teacher at the center, the activities included basic workshops on the Arabic alphabet, writing and language, with an introduction to some first words, expressions and greetings in Arabic. More than 70 students from the Guadalerzas Secondary School took part, as well as 30 adults in the afternoon session at the Casa de la Cultura, who learned how to introduce themselves and write their name, then taking home their name written in Arabic as a souvenir.
In the afternoon, the Casa de la Cultura also hosted several sessions with the storytelling session “The Day Saida Arrived,” in Arabic and Spanish, for families and children of different ages, including the youngest of all, with participation by approximately 80 people.
