As with previous editions, the twenty-sixth FIMAM meeting will be a gathering of researchers from all over Spain, which is also open to researchers from other countries. At the event, those attending may present completed, ongoing or early stage research on contemporary Arab and Islamic studies from the social sciences and cultural studies. A round table will be organized to present the thesis projects in their initial stages, so as to gather opinions and get advice from the more experienced members. The conference will be held in person at the University of Alicante. Panel discussions will be held mainly in Spanish, but contributions in other languages (English, French) may be considered.

The deadline for receiving summaries, containing no more than 300 words, is FRIDAY, May 31, 2024. For further details on the information to be included in the submissions and the subject matter to be addressed, please check the congress website.

The FIMAM is an initiative for scientific cooperation and thematic information on the Arab and Muslim world which combines a significant part of the Spanish research scene on these issues, with the participation of professors, researchers and experts from universities and research centers in Spain and other countries. Since it was founded in 1995, an annual meeting has been held with the goal of creating a network to share information.

New this year, we are offering the possibility to publish the texts presented at the meeting in three potential publications: the journal Awraq (with the cooperation of Casa Árabe); a book created with the publishing firm Tirant Lo Blanch (with the cooperation of IEMed); and a book on gender-related issues with another prestigious publishing house yet to be determined (in collaboration with the Euro-Arab Foundation). Publication instructions can be found in the above links, though further details will be provided at a later date. When filling in the registration form, please indicate which one of these options you would be interested in using for publication.
