The Casa Árabe’s Bookstore: a new refuge for Arab culture in Madrid

We are now opening the new Casa Árabe Bookstore, a space which has become a reality thanks to our collaboration with Muga, one of the most well-established, longstanding bookshops in the city of Madrid.

MADRID
At Casa Árabe, October is ushering in a whole series of innovations, one of the most outstanding of which is the new opening of the Casa Árabe Bookstore. This literary space, which is now coming back with improved service, is positioning itself as a cultural reference point in the city of Madrid, with the mission of increasing awareness about Arab literature and culture among the public in a more accessible and dynamic way.

To achieve that goal, the new bookstore will be increasing its opening hours, as well as updating its catalogue of available titles, including a selection that contains both the most recent books published about the Arab world and a specialized bibliographic collection. Moreover, as has been customary up to now, the public will also be able to find specific materials for learning the Arabic language.

During this new era, the bookstore is planned to become a living space for culture, a place where ideas and knowledge are interwoven through a scheduled program of workshops, book presentations, literary gatherings and cultural activities designed for everyone in the city. The Casa Árabe Bookstore has come into existence as a result of the work undertaken in conjunction with the Librería Muga, one of the best-known names in Madrid’s publishing sector. With over 20 years of experience, Muga has been a role model within the Spanish capital’s cultural scene, especially in the neighborhood of Vallecas, where it has been able to gain notoriety as a space which goes above and beyond just selling books.

Through this re-opening, Casa Árabe is once again showing its commitment to the dissemination of Arab cultural heritage in Spain, thus contributing to the enrichment of Madrid’s cultural fabric. The new Casa Árabe Bookstore will be an open, inclusive, participatory space where the public can access the best of contemporary and traditional Arab literature, learn about the Arabic language and take part in an enriching cultural exchange.
