Fiq (Wake Up!) is the most recent show by the Groupe Acrobatique de Tanger, a collective created in 2003 thanks to one woman, Sanae El Kamouni, who was determined to draw acrobatics, one of the great examples of Morocco’s popular culture, closer to a more contemporary language.

At this show, you get the chance to see the lights, energy and liveliness of fifteen young acrobatic talents who combine stunts ranging from traditional and modern acrobatics to urban dance, breakdancing and even Taekwondo and freestyle football.

So, just how do they combine all these acrobatic moves? To the beat of the scratches by Morocco’s renowned DJ Key while surrounded by the visual world of Hassan Hajjaj, a famous artist and photographer known as the Moroccan Andy Warhol who authors images with dazzling and colorful pop visual imagery.

Fiq (Wake Up!) is a true extravaganza of light and color, a new display of the the performers’ extreme vitality, this time under the direction of a fellow acrobat, Maroussia Diaz Verbèke.

The show is being held as part of the schedule events during Madrid’s Veranos de la Villa (“City Summers”), on July 26 and 27 at 10:30 p.m. in the central courtyard of the Conde Duque Cultural Center. Tickets cost 18 euros and are on sale here.
