MADRID
The Neurology Department at the Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid has formed a multidisciplinary team of neurological evaluation experts to complete this project in collaboration with various organizations in the Autonomous Region of Madrid.

During the evaluation, candidates are given various tests that include activities and tasks to determine how their cognitive tasks are functioning, such as memory, attention and language, as well as others. The results of these evaluations will make it possible to determine whether each patient falls within the normal range, with no cognitive issues, or whether, on the contrary, the person is suffering from mild deterioration or has reached an early stage of dementia.

Many of the patients who come to the Neurology Service are foreigners of different origins, cultures and languages. These differences make objective assessment using conventional testing quite difficult. It is therefore necessary to develop specific new tests for foreign patients so that an accurate assessment can be completed, regardless of origin, culture or language.

As a result, the hospital’s Neurology Department is seeking foreign volunteers to complete a simple test lasting approximately 30 minutes. The data provided will be analyzed anonymously and will serve as a reference for subsequent evaluations of patients of foreign origin.

Together we can improve the cognitive evaluation of our seniors regardless of their nationality.
