The period for submitting candidacies to the Sheikh Zayed Book Prize begins 

The period for presenting candidacies for what will be the twentieth edition of this award, which recognizes literary and academic works on Arab culture and works written in the Arabic language, as well as the work by institutions and important personages who contribute to the dissemination of this culture, will last until September 1.

ABU DHABI 
The prizes are awarded by an independent jury to authors, translators, publishers and organizations from around the world.

Each award recipient will be given approximately 179,160 euros (750,000 UAE dirhams) to support their careers. The 2025 winners include not only literary figures such as Hoda Barakat and Haruki Murakami, but also scholars such as Britain’s Andrew Peacock. In 2024, the Spanish institution Casa Árabe was the winner in the prestigious Cultural Personality of the Year category

The Award is given in ten different categories, five of which are open to international candidates and books in non-Arabic languages:
 - Arab culture in other languages (works published in the last five years) 
- Translation (from Arabic): translations of works from any genre published in the last two years 
- Editing of Arabic manuscripts: academic works published in the last five years on the subject of editing Arabic manuscripts, including the publication of lexicons 
- Editing and technology: for publishers, distributors, research organizations, and cultural institutions that promote Arab culture 
- Cultural Personality of the Year: by nomination from academic, research, or cultural institutions, cultural figures, literary organizations and universities 

This edition commemorates the twentieth anniversary of the Award and will be given along with a program of international events to celebrate the first two decades of its cultural legacy
