The event was officially opened by Pedro Martínez-Avial, the General Director of Casa Árabe; Eva Martínez, the General Director of the Maghreb, Africa and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation; Raed Abu Soud, Jordan’s Minister of Water and Irrigation; Hugo Morán, the State Secretary of the Environment of the Ecological Transition Ministry, and Aina Calvo, director of the Spanish International Development Cooperation Agency.
Water is essential to social development and economic growth, and one of the greatest challenges faced in a context of water scarcity and increasing demand is to guarantee safety through the integrated management of water resources. Spain has a long-standing tradition of dealing with water scarcity from a sustainable perspective, based on a strong system of water governance, and is at the same time proud of its cooperation with Jordan.
