Trade mission to Qatar and Kuwait 

You may now register to take part in the trade mission to Qatar and Kuwait organized by the Madrid Chamber of Commerce from March 30 to April 2, 2020.

Qatar’s economy is one of the strongest and most dynamic in the Gulf region, in part because of its natural hydrocarbon resources (51% of GDP). The government of Qatar has set the goal of turning the country into a regional economic and financial center. Qatar’s investment plans form part of “Qatar National Vision 2030,” which is divided into four main pillars: economic, social, human and environmental development, as well as the country’s preparation to host the World Cup of soccer in 2022. During the first nine months of 2019, the bilateral trade between Spain and Qatar grew by 15%, reaching 1.060 billion euros. Qatar is a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and therefore it has a single customs duty of 5% for the vast majority of all products.

As for Kuwait, it is one of the countries with the highest growth and wealth rates in the Middle East, as well as being the second largest petroleum producer in the GCC, only behind Saudi Arabia. It is also ranked number one in terms of the importance of crude oil in its exports, at approximately 90%. The “Kuwait Vision 2035” National Development Plan, funded with 100billion US dollars, has the goal of transforming the country into a finance and trade center, as well as diversifying its economy beyond the traditional petroleum sector, placing a greater emphasis on public-private undertakings to finance these plans while focusing on such important sectors as housing, technology and infrastructures, as well as others.

In order to explore the business opportunities offered by these two countries and promote cooperation between Spanish and local companies, the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services has organized this trade mission, which is especially intended for interested companies in the fields of Infrastructures, engineering, construction, services, oil, gas, defense, energy, water, waste treatment, industry, food, health care and the IT sector. These sectors hold a high priority but do not exclude others.
